The Firm (Part 1)
This blog was created way back in April 2005 but Muhendaran Sri has been in existence from December 1999.
In December 1999, Muhendaran Sri was known as Sri & Co. To tell you a secret, Sri is my wife lah. In other words people, she is the founder of the firm. I joined the firm in January 2001, and being an Indian, and a Tamil, my name had to come first, therefore, the firm became, Muhendaran Sri.
Unfortunately, many clients, clients-to-be and strangers, seriously believe that my name is Mr. Sri, despite the fact that once in a while my wife (who sometimes pretends she is the receptionist) tries to explain that she is Sri. I am very sure that all she gets for this is a rise in her blood pressure, as they refuse to believe her, and insist that they want to speak to Mr. Sri, the good-looking Indian man with a thick moustache!
A piece of advice to all men - marry a girl with a Sri in her name, so she will be Puan Sri and you will be by token, Tan Sri. I often get asked by many judges, once they have met my wife, Puan Sri, in chambers or open court - when I got my Tan Sri-ship!
We are a small set-up. We started with one lawyer, who was also the sole support staff. Later, we became two lawyers, who were also acting as the support staff, but we had my father-in-law as our receptionist cums accounts clerk.
Our first staff was my wife's nephew, Pratap, who was 15 years old and taller than me when he came to work for us in 2001. He did nothing except chasing cockroaches, and watching the clock through lunchtime. Occasionally he answered the phones, thinking it could be his mom calling to check on him.
I'm a fan of Tamil and Hindi movies, therefore I'm used to long-winded story lines. However,I was told that a blog post should be a short and sweet script. In the circumstances, I will stop now, and continue tomorrow with our staff history. Until then, ciao!

I can say our firm is a boutique firm specialising in employment law, and act for trade unions and employees. However, we do give advice to employers, and once in a while, represent them in the Courts. We also do a fair bit of conveyancing, family law, probate and trusts, and civil litigation.
We do matters right from the labour courts, the industrial courts right up to the Apex courts.
