Our Favourite Things

We've been so busy recently that several milestones have passed us by without a mention.

firstly, its been two years since we've moved into this new orange office. so fast, no? it feels like the days have just zoomed past without asking for permission. we've renewed our tenancy for another 2 years, so it looks like we'll remain orange for a while yet.

it has also been 2 years since kavi joined us, whereas it feels like we've known her forever. no way of renewing her tenancy, but we think she will also remain for quite a while yet...

gitanjali's celebrating her third birthday next week, which is a major milestone for us as well -her coming into our lives has changed us all, and the way this firm operates - i think that gitanjali is one of the reasons we became a fun firm, whereas kavi is the reason we became an ice-cream-after-lunch firm.

next milestone- its been six months since we got our new and improved orange call cards

also, its been one month since shanti escaped, and one month since balan the driver joined

lastly, to commemorate our trip to taiping last year to celebrate mehala's wedding, which was about one year and one month ago, avinash turned over yesterday.

Thus, to celebrate all that, we are having a commemarative post today to rejoice in all things Muhendaran Sri.

Our Favourite Colour

(Duh!) Orange, followed by black

Our Favourite Pastime

eating and discussing the law and the World Cup, as well as indulging in important debates about how it would be impossible for a lawyer to strangle himself to death with his belt - and of course not forgetting tea, or ice-cream

Our Favourite Lunch

now this is a bit seasonal. At the moment, annan's shop has been enjoying something of a revival, and 3 days out of 5, we have lunches from here. otherwise we do the enjoy the oil and fat from the malay corner restaurant, and nasi goreng kampung has been on everyone's plate the most.

Our Favourite Phrases

1. Is that a reason or an excuse?
2. What are we having for lunch?
3. Ice-cream anyone?
4. I am socked and dis-appointed
5. Mangkuk
6. You're a real thenggah la
7. Nonsense la
8. Maaaaa-dhavi! and/or Shaaaa-ron!
9. talk cock sing song
10. cis! bedebah

Our Favourite Snacks

1. Red colour Twisties (although we haven't had any in some time)
2. Assam (the bottle with the green label)
3. Tiger biscuits
4. currypuffs

Our Favourite Clothes

Our office t-shirts obviously, followed closely by anything not black and white (which is of course compulsory court attire)

We're off

1. mad and/or pesky clients, who bug us non-stop but refuse to entertain the thought of paying us any fees.

2. china press food and the indian shop downstairs in mutiarabangsar- don't know why la. just off it. haven't had it in ages.

3. black and white clothes

4. mad and/or pesky clients who refuse to come in and prepare for their trials or who refuse to sign their affidavits, for no reason at whatsoever

We're socked and disappointed with

1. Brazil
2. Bmw-cars

that's all i can come up with for now. obviously this is not a comprehensive list. since its a commemorative one, i shall edit it if anyone feels something is left out, so do tell me ok...

Happy Cotton Anniversary - 2 years in your current orangy loony bin (before I get whacked - that is a good thing, by the way). 2 years sure have passed by. And just off my head, to put things in perspective, in the 2 years -

1. You've blinked about 11 million times. Apparently we blink about once ever four seconds, or 15 times a minute, and we're asleep for a third of our lives.

2. If it could live that long, a human sperm could swim about 0.3 kilometres (about 0.2 miles). A healthy human sperm swims about 3mm a minutes (about a tenth of an inch).

3. Light would have travelled about 18.93 million million kilometres (about 11.77 million million miles). Light travels at 299,792 kilometres in one second (186,298 miles per second).

4.There have been about 265 million people born. There's also been about 114 million deaths, an overall increase in the World population of about 153 million people.

5. If left uncut, your fingernails would have grown about 5 centimetres (about 2 inches). They grow about an 2½cm (an inch) a year, four times faster than toenails.

Very useful info there.

thanks lc for the wonderful info there. i have to agree that they are indeed useful things to know. now i know what to say when i meet any particularly boring people at parties - i can just stop them dead in their tracks by informing them, "did you know that a human sperm would have travelled 0.3km in 2 years if it has somehow miraculously survived for so long..."

anonymous, as is my style, i have only now begun to scratch my head and wonder what to do about G's birthday. shall at some point come up with a stupendous plan for fabulous party obviously. at the moment though, my thoughts are like that super-sperm, still travelling at the rate of 3mm a minute. will post it once i have a plan.

virus, the mail was definitely sfw, so what was the problem? why make the don't know? tsk tsk tsk...
