Three Aaaaarrgghs and a cake
hello, i'm back. have recovered from the tragedy of last week... if you were wondering what happened, let me fill in the blanks for you...
the week started off well actually, with lourdes' chocolate cake as you know. i had lots of fun on monday, downloaded some tamil songs and did a fair bit of work as well. as you know it was day one without kavi- who had gone off to ipoh for a trial...tuesday started off tamely enough - i had come in with ms and we were blasting the songs i had downloaded the previous day on his mp3 player. he dropped me off and went somewhere (cannot remember now). i came in and greeted the flora and fauna (madhavi, ransom and q. latifah) and was having chapati for breakfast. then madhavi came and said (rather innocuously) that she couldn't turn on my pc... i went and had a look at it and HORRORS!!!!!!!!!! it was not booting up. AAAAAAAaaaarrrgh!!!!
did not panic for a bit, then little by little panicked quite a lot. obviously had downloaded a virus!!! how now brown cow? my tech people have all been working serious hours these days, and are quite off limits during office hours....buried face in hands for a while (this was interspersed with bouts of pulling at my hair). mehala's brother came by with a new client. he calmed me down a bit, and promised to bring in his tech support to look at pc - which he did (so sweet no?) but this tech guy was not really willing to take the risk of reinstalling the software without backing up the data - so told him i might as well send it to ramesh (my brother, aka Tech support No. 2) in the evening - which i did.
probably failed to tell you that if my pc isn't running, everyone can't use their pcs either. mine is sort of the mother pc (ala motherboard, mothership, mutha...you get the picture). i can see you slapping your face and saying "OY! say it - its called the server, not mother pc..." but its not. its the motherpc.
anyway got it limping by wednesday morning and brought it in only to discover that printer not installed, but cd in my brother's place. AAAAAArghhh! obviously we only have one pc which is hooked up to mother pc... went and got the cd. ok. sorted that out...then realised whole host of other things needed to be installed. still haven't figured out half of it. still can't go online, which is why i haven't been able to blog...
wednesday 7.30pm.(mehala's time) ransom kicked the underwater bucket. went to the kingdom of abundant worms and female fighting fish... died...(AAAAaaarrggg obviously)
thursday, we opted to forgo the post mortem, wrapped him in some nice tissue paper, and waved him off on his new journey....
thursday - we realised that the rats had invaded the inner sanctum of the office and eaten kavi's coat buttons (and part of the lining as well)!!!!! AAAAArggggghhhh ( the third aaaargh of the week)! they had also dropped in at madhavi's work space, and done some redecorating... HOW NOW BROWN COW?
went and bought mesh fencing material and got the plumber uncle (that's uncle Chan to you) to block the windows.
Friday - madhavi was on leave and ms and mehala in court. kavi in the jungles of endau rompin... just me in the office with the rats and the cockroaches. it was terrible. luckily mehala came in and rescued me....friday afternoon was like old times again. just ms, mehala and me...interesting, but too few people for this office.
yesterday was shan's birthday. cooked lunch for him. today we cut a birthday cake (v. yummy). ajeet and lourdes came by for lunch. kavi's back.
life's good.
